Block Stone continues to supply excellent quality raw block into the construction industry. We pride ourselves on square shaped block (hence reducing the wastage factor) - a reliable supply and always a friendly service. Having a range of stones to offer – sandstones and limestones of various different colour and texture – we can fulfill all your stone requirements. We have three teams of men, one team permanently based in Peak Moor Quarry, and the other two teams that work around the other 7 quarries in turn. Stocks of blocks are built up and when we are not in that particular quarry – stocks are stored at either Chesterfield or Lazonby, so that deliveries can be made when we have moved on to the next quarry. So in between quarry workings, a particular stone type of stock dwindles at these sites as the stone sells, until the stock reaches a minimum level which then triggers the returning to that quarry again to build up stocks. Occasionally we can not move back to a quarry as quick as we would like and therefore stocks get low and the customer has less choice of sizes available. It helps for our planning if customers keep us informed of potential future projects and their demand for particular stones – we can work our schedule more efficiently and the customers get the stone they want.
